FOR IMMEDIATE RELEASE – Dayton, OH: The MMEC today announced the official launch of ScaleBridge Labs (SBL), a first-of-its-kind incubator and accelerator dedicated to advancing dual-use microelectronics technologies focusing on both national security and commercial applications.
SBL provides innovators with access to design tools, secure digital infrastructure, physical prototyping capabilities, mentorship, and business readiness support, all aimed at reducing the time and cost to bring critical electronics solutions from concept to deployment.
“ScaleBridge Labs is built to do what no single organization can do alone – accelerate breakthrough technologies into the hands of those who need them most,” stated Paul Colestock, MMEC Director of Commercial Innovation and ScaleBridge Director for Strategic Partnerships and Advisor Network. “By bridging innovators, industry, academia, and government, we are ensuring that our warfighters and commercial markets benefit from rapid technology transition.”
ScaleBridge’s hybrid incubator / accelerator model is designed to tackle the “Valley of Death” that too often delays or derails promising technologies. Innovators will be able to leverage:
- Design & Modeling Support: Access to hybrid-cloud modeling, simulation, and analysis tools to reduce R&D costs and speed up design iteration.
- Business Readiness Levels (BRL): A structured approach to maturing technologies for commercialization and mission deployment.
- Secure Infrastructure: Digital and physical resources to meet compliance and national security requirements.
- Mentorship & Network Access: Connection to SBL’s ecosystem of advisors, partners, and investors.
- Customer Pathways: Exposure to dual-use markets, DoD partners, and non-dilutive funding opportunities.
“ScaleBridge provides the structure, resources, and partnerships that innovators need to succeed,,” said Daniel Bailey, ScaleBridge Labs Head of Operations. “This is more than just an incubator / accelerator, it’s a launch platform designed to lower barriers and shorten the timeline for microelectronics innovation.”
In addition to supporting early-stage ventures, SBL will also help established companies spin out technologies, engage in public-private collaborations, and connect to mission-driven opportunities in the defense microelectronics sector.
“ScaleBridge represents MMEC’s commitment to building a sustainable ecosystem where innovation thrives,” added Matt Casto, MMEC CTO. “Our members now have access to a purpose-built platform that strengthens both competitiveness and national security.”
SBL has already developed relationships with a number of Capital Partners, Affiliate Companies, and Cohort Companies including:
